Brisbane residents embrace Ezygreen

Written on the 27 July, 2010

Three times the forecast number of households in greater Brisbane have signed up for the EzyGreen energy reduction program in its first two weeks of operation.

Parks and Sustainability Chair Peter Matic said at midnight last night 21,163 homes within the greater Brisbane area had signed up to the new EzyGreen energy reduction program.

“The overwhelming response to EzyGreen shows that Brisbane residents are committed to sustainability,” Cr Matic said.

“EzyGreen is not only contributing to a clean, green and more sustainable Brisbane but it’s also delivering relief to the hip pocket of residents who take it up.”

One of the most popular EzyGreen options has been the free energy saving powerboard, which allows residents to eliminate the energy wasted when leaving appliances on standby mode.

“We’ve seen such strong demand for the energy saving powerboards that additional units have been fast tracked for delivery to meet that demand,” Cr Matic said.

“Brisbane is to be congratulated for showing its green heart through their outstanding response to this program.”

Councillor Matic said the easy-to-use program bundles free and discounted energy-saving appliances with GreenPower and solar power options.

“Brisbane City Council is proud to join forces with the Queensland Government and a number of local partners to facilitate the rollout of EzyGreen and be at the forefront of sustainability initiatives.”

EzyGreen is an initiative of Brisbane City Council which bundles local, State and Federal energy savings initiatives into one easy-to-use program. EzyGreen costs nothing to sign-up and is available to both home owners and renters.

The initiative is proudly partnered by the Queensland Government, AGL, Ingenero, NAB, Crest, The Good Guys and Nope Electric Bikes & Scooters.
